“Where did he go? Did he say?”
“I don’t know where he went. He didn’t tell me.”
“OK. Do you know when he is coming back?”
“Yes, he told me that. He will be back in about two hours. Would you like me to tell him something, when he comes back?”
“Yes, please. Could you ask him to call me back immediately.”
“Do you want him to call you, or do you want him to come to your office and talk to you there?”
“I will not be in my office. I need to leave in half an hour. So please, ask him to call me, OK?”
“Sure, no problem. I will tell him that you were here and that you want him to call you back.”
“Immediately!”

“No, I’m not. Unfortunately, I have no time to go on a trip.”
“I need to work in our garden. There are so many things which I have to do..”
“Like what?”
“Well, I need to prepare the soil for the planting season.”
“Do you grow your own vegetables?”
“Yes, we do. We don’t buy any vegetables in the shop. We have all we need in our garden.”
“But it is a hard work to take care of a garden, isn’t it?”
“Yes, it is, indeed. But for me, it is a kind of relaxation. I like working in my garden.”
“So, you need to prepare the soil. What else do you need to do this weekend?”
“I am also planning to paint our fence.”
“That’s a lot of work. How long will it take you to paint the whole fence?”
“I don’t know how long it will take me to paint the whole fence. I think I will have time to paint it only once.”

‘I think it is set for 5:30pm, but they want us to be there at least 30 minutes earlier.’
‘Thirty minutes earlier? You’re joking!’
‘No, I’m not. I don’t know why they want us to come there so early. I don’t like it.’
‘No, I don’t like it either. Something’s up. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.‘
‘I agree. Well, we’ll see what the problem is, when we get there.’
‘Is Jerry coming to the meeting as well?’
‘Yes, I believe he is.’
‘Does he know that we should be there thirty minutes before the meeting starts?’
‘I’m not sure. Do you think that I should call him?’
‘Yes, you should call him to let him know about the change. It was new information for me too. I didn’t know that we should be there 30 minutes earlier until you told me.’
‘No worries. I’ll give him a call in ten minutes. I’m in the middle of something and I need to finish it first.’
‘Is it something for the meeting?’
‘No, it isn’t. It is something for tomorrow. I don’t want to stay here after the meeting. I want to go home.’

‘I don’t know him either. I see him for the first time.’
‘Yes, but it is a big party. It is quite natural that you don’t know everybody.’
‘Maybe. But Richard said that he would invite only friends. And there are a few people here who are completely new to me.’
‘And is it a bad thing or is it a good thing?’
‘Neither. It just is what it is. I am only saying that I don’t know some people here. I’m not saying that it is a bad thing.’
‘Did you speak to any of those new people?’
‘No, I didn’t speak to any of them. I only arrived ten minutes ago. But I will! You never know. I might make some new friends here tonight.’
‘Yes, that’s the reason why I come to these parties too.’
‘In general, I don’t like parties too much. I don’t go to parties very often.’
‘But you are here tonight.’
‘Yes, Richard is one of my best friends. When he has a party, I always come. And I like Richard’s friends. I never feel bored at his parties.’
‘Neither do I. I feel the same way about Richard’s parties. He’s a great host and the people who come to his parties are all very friendly and they behave very well.’
‘I agree. Well, I am going to that man over there to find out who he is and what he does. You can come with me, if you like.’

‘Yes, I am. Why not? It is the weekend. I don’t need to go to school and I already vacuumed the rooms. So now, I can sit and play my games, can’t I?’
‘Yes, you can, but you shouldn’t. You are spending too much time on your computer. You should spend some of your time outside.’
‘But what is there to do outside? All of my friends are online now. None of them is outside. We all are sitting at home and playing together now.’
‘So why don’t you call them and ask them to go out with you? You can play football or something there together.’
‘They don’t like playing football. Actually, they don’t like playing anything. They don’t do any sport. And I cannot play football on my own.’
‘Well, then you should go out on your own. You don’t need to play football to get out and breathe some fresh air.’
‘I know.’
‘I’m glad you know. So tell your friends that you are going out. Maybe some of them will join you.’
‘And what if they don’t?’
‘If they don’t go out with you, just ignore them. Turn that thing off, hop on your bike and off you go! I don’t want to see you at home for at least three hours!’

‘What did I say? I told her the truth. I told her I didn’t know where you were.’
‘OK, I really couldn’t come… I will talk to her about it later. She isn’t at work today, is she?’
‘Whether she is at work? Our boss? Are you joking? Where else would she be?’
‘I thought she said that she was going on a business trip for a week.’
‘Yes, she really said that. I remember it. But she didn’t go anywhere. She’s sitting at her desk and working as usual.’

‘Well noted, thank you. Do we have the presentation ready for the afternoon? I don’t want any problems with this project. You know how easily this customer can get angry.’
‘Yes, I know. Everything is ready. We only need a few pictures for the file. Jenny will bring them in half an hour.’
‘OK, but please make sure that she does. Sometimes she can be quite forgetful.’
‘Don’t worry. I’m on it. I’ll ring her in ten minutes to remind her about it.’

‘Don’t worry. I am not asking for money. I need a piece of advice, that’s all.’
‘OK, I hope I can help you. What would you need?’
‘I am new to this city. I and my friends, who are standing over there, want to visit a nice pub. Do you know any good pub near here?’
‘Yes, I know a few.’
‘Great! Which one would you recommend to us?’
‘It depends on what you like.’
‘We like good beer. We prefer beer from a local brewery. If there is such a pub, we will go there.’
‘Yes, of course. Actually, there are two pubs near here, which serve their own beer. One of them is with live music, but the food is not the best there. The other one has great food and very good beer, but there is no music there at all. Which one would you prefer to go to?’
‘It doesn’t matter. Either is good for us. We are not planning to eat anything.’
‘OK. So, the one with the music is just round the corner, over there. It is called “Drunken Guitar”.’
‘Wonderful! We’ll go there. But please, could you tell me the name of the other one, just in case we don’t like this one.’
‘Sure. The other one is called “Hungry Bear” and it is in the opposite direction. It takes about five minutes to get there from here.’
‘Many thanks for your help! I think we’ll try both of them tonight.’
‘No problem. Have a great night out!’

‘I’m not sure. I don’t know exactly where we are.’
‘OK, let’s talk to those people to get some help.’
‘I don’t think that they can help us.’
‘Why do you think so?’
‘Just look at them. Look at the way they’re dressed. They do not look like local people to me. They look like tourists.’
‘So what?‘
‘What do you mean “so what”? If they are not from here, then they won’t be able to help us to find the way.’
‘You cannot know that until you ask. They may not be from here, but they may know the way.’
‘OK, we may go and ask them, but I don’t think they will be able to help us.’
‘And I think that you’re thinking too much. Just go and ask them!’
‘Why me? Are you not coming with me?’
‘No, I’m not. Your English is very good, unlike mine. Just go and talk to them. I’ll wait for you to come back with good news.’

‘That’s strange, isn’t it? She never brings anything to my office. And I’m not expecting anything from her either.’
‘Well, the box is here now!’
‘Is the box heavy?’
‘It weighs about four kilos. I think there are some papers inside.’
‘Papers?’
‘I mean some documents or books. The box is quite heavy for its size.’
‘I guess you’re right. But I won’t take it with me now. I’m going to the city to meet a client and I’m not taking my car.’
‘Understand. But what do you want me to do with this?’

‘Yes, correct. He needed me to send it to him as soon as possible. I usually do not work until the morning, but this is a very good customer. He needed my help, so I helped him.’
‘And he will pay for it, won’t he?’
‘Yes, of course. He will pay some extra money because he is very happy now. And what about you? I hope you didn’t have to work late night!’
‘No, I didn’t. I slept very well and I’m full of energy. But I will need it this weekend.’

‘I’m going on a hiking trip to the mountains. My friends asked me to join them. I wasn’t in the mountains for a very long time and they go hiking regularly. I hope I will keep the pace with them.’
