Some time ago, I made a promise to my students, and to those who regularly visit this website, that I would create a page for beginning learners of English. Finally, I am happy to inform you that the first part of my Project School is now ready.

This page is for those students of the English language, who are learning from the red book Essential Grammar in Use or those who have already finished it. In this place, I will write some articles in very simple English because I want also beginners to practice their English and read something in English as soon as possible.

At this time, I will only write articles here. I will not explain any grammar. Later, I may start other things to help the students learn, but for now, there will be only short articles for them to read.

I will write short texts in 3 different levels and every article will show the level in its title. Level 1 = L-1; Level 2 = L-2; Level 3 = L-3. Most articles will be written in level 3, which is for the students who have finished the whole book Essential Grammar in Use. L-1 is for beginners with very simple English and L-2 is for those who have already learnt more grammar. The details about the grammar at each level are listed below.

I hope to write at least one short article every week. Also, I hope that they will help you practice your English and use all that you have learnt during your lessons. Some of you think that your English is bad and that you will never be good at this language. It is not true. Please read as much as you can and read as often as you can. Gradually, you will improve your vocabulary, and the grammar will not be a problem for you any more.

Articles on this page will be written in the following three levels:

Level 1:

  • Goal:
  • to automate basic sentence order structure of S+V+O and questions;
  • limited vocabulary; (300-400 words)
  • Focus on:
  • the most frequent verbs and basic prepositions;
  • practice of irregular verbs
  • motivate students from the very early stage to use their English for reading, thus creating a strong habit of learning through reading
  • Grammar:
  • simple present, present continuous, simple past, will, going to
  • modals: can, must,
  • there is/are, some & any
  • possessive, objective pronouns
  • adverbs of frequency: often, always, usually, never, sometimes
  • prepositions: at, in, on – time & place; before, after, during
  • much, many, a lot of / (a) few, (a) little
  • comparative

Level 2:

In addition to Level 1:

  • Goal:
  • to strengthen S+V+O, question structures
  • extended vocabulary (600-800 words)
  • Focus on:
  • practice of irregular verbs
  • infinitive structure
  • Grammar (In addition to Level 1):
  • past continuous
  • modals: could, would, should
  • comparative structures, ; … than… ; superlative
  • enough, too, infinitive of purpose structure
  • tag questions, short answers
  • relative pronouns: who, which, that
  • reflexive pronouns, any/no/none
  • both/either/neither
  • verbs +ing / verbs + to

Level 3:

  • Goal:
  • to expand vocabulary (1200+ words)
  • to read, comprehend and practice English through reading with the intention to prepare the student for understanding the sentences as used in Grammar in Use for Intermediate students
  • Grammar:
  • full scope of Essential Grammar in Use + past perfect
